Our client’s brief on this project was simple, to design an extension to provide a new kitchen, dining room and family room, which would then become the new focal point to the family home. The client’s home lies within a cul-de-sac with a number of distinctive homes. We decided to continue this theme to the rear of the property where the extension would be, and provide a fully glazed rear elevation that would maximise the light into the north-facing kitchen. The property backs onto a local park and the proposed extension would afford great views of the sunrise. The high vaulted ceilings maximise the volume and make the space feel even larger than it is. This coupled with the views of the morning sunlight in the winter and in the summer months having the bi-fold doors fully opened add to the bespoke features of their existing home.
