Our client came to us looking for a way to modernise their new home and increase their living area. Our brief was to provide a new dedicated home office, a larger kitchen, dining room and family room which would become the new focal point in their recently acquired home. Externally we were asked to relocate the garage to the other side of the property and in addition, create a dedicated and hobby room above. The prominent location of their home afforded us the opportunity to create a bold design, one that embraced its prominence rather than subdued it. We took cues from the existing dormers and multi pitched roofs to create a new entrance and large glazed dormer above the garage on the front elevation. We also used dark coloured cladding as a way to blend the new alterations to the existing house and to fully integrate the remodel. We upgraded all windows and rainwater goods to match with the new glazed alterations and at the rear, the kitchen, dining room and new family room were accommodated by the new single-storey extension, with the addition of fixed brise soleil to act as solar shading for the new south-facing extension.
